Influencing My CoHorts
The proposal being presented is to use an ePortfolio to demonstrate student learning. This portfolio will mark a fundamental shift from focusing on testing to authentic student learning. Conversely, the weight of responsibility lies on campus leadership and staff.
This is why my five cohorts in the Social Studies Department and myself will develop, integrate, and continually collaborate on said integration of the ePortfolio strategy. Primarily, the key influencers on this project will be the classroom teachers, content leaders, instructional coaches, administration, and district curriculum personnel. Campus personnel, such as teachers and content leaders, would be the initial influencers. As the project increases on a campus level, instructional coaches and administrators would join. District personnel would become influencers as the project increases in notoriety and success.
The success of this proposal to implement ePortfolio’s requires the attention and cooperation of administration, content leaders, and teachers. In order to achieve fundamental change and long-term success, all of the aforementioned parties will under the following transformative journey by exhibiting these following vital behaviors:
Teachers will develop their own ePortfolio.
Teachers will integrate the ePortfolio into the curriculum.
Teachers will come together and continually collaborate on the implementation on the ePortfolio.
The long lasting outcomes will be measured using a modified 4DX model to measure the understanding of History: Who, What, Where, When, Why, Impact, and Legacy. Teachers will be asked to present the number of students that effectively state the legacy. Initially, a tracker spreadsheet will be used for accountability and teachers will add select student examples to their own portfolio. This is a form of accountability and other components will be added as teachers sign onto the project.
